Team SR Member, Paul Mcdonald sweeps Canadian Barefoot Nationals

Team SR member Paul McDonald just completed a sweep of Canadian Barefoot Nationals in
Calgary, Alberta Canada. Paul completed the sweep by winning the slalom, jump and trick contest. Paul also broke the national jump record by jumping 80 feet. The previous record was 75 feet.

Congratulations Paul and keep up the good work.

North American Cup part 1

The first part of the North American Cup Freestyle Series on the Black River in Watertown, NY was an outstanding success! A ton of great playboaters came to the event and threw down on Route.3 Wave during the 3 day event . Day one was exhibition day along with a “Big Trick” contest. Day two were the prelims and day three was the finals. I placed third in the prelims which got me into the finals, where I earned a respectable third place behind two extremely respectable paddlers, Ruth Gordon and Emily Jackson. There was a decent crowd of local on-lookers at the event, and they got a great show from the likes of Bryan Kirk who placed first in the mens, and Stephen Wright who placed second. Bryan and Steve both threw some huge, amazing moves on a mid-sized wave, convincing me that my regular play-spot is capable of producing some extraordinary moves in the right hands. The second half of the event is this coming weekend(September 1st-3rd) on the Ottawa River in Beachburg Ontario, and will hopefully be held on Garberator if the water levels allow it. Wish me luck and come compete or spectate if your travel plans take you through that area of Ontario this weekend! I’ll post some video of both series events next week, so be sure to check back.

The only bad thing about the Outdoor Retailer is that actual paddling is so freaking far away from the show and after talking shop for 6 days straight, it was defiantly time to get in the water. Just to have some fun with it, Ken Driscoll took us out in the boat for some wake surfing in Park City. It’s actually pretty fun but obviously kind of limited… carving, spins and some round houses are about the extent of it but it makes for some really cool photos. We are digging the new Standard and the Limited Edition Colors.

Garb in August

I've been checking the level every day on the Ottawa River waiting for Garb to come in. We saw that it was in and left Henderson, NY and spent 4 days at the wave. I still haven't fully recovered from some of the beatdowns I received on the wave. Here is my fist video that my husband Jeff Campbell produced for me. I hope you enjoy it! Elaine
